I will struggle to capture in words how excited I was to be able to take these photos for Alex. The 36-hour tour was packed with all kinds of stomping ground memories. Trips to In-N-Out, which is much more difficult to eat with a beard…something like 15 napkins are needed. A chance to see family and watch the niece play basketball. A chance to jump into a convertible with the top down all weekend. A reminder of how awesome traffic is =(. Although quick, it was a rich rich chance to take a trek back to California.
It was another trip that reminded me of just how old I am getting as Alex was one of my jr high school students from my ministry years in California. When they asked if I would be willing and able to make this happen I was just elated! Alex decided that she wanted to have her pictures taken at one of the most influential places in her life (which also happens to be one of my most influential places as well) – Forest Home Christian Camps in Forest Falls, CA. Talk about bringing back memories! Here I am taking pictures for Alex as a graduate while constantly remembering taking her up to this camp as a middle schooler! The icing on the cake was the weekend we snapped these photos was the same weekend the high school group from Glenkirk was at FoHo for winter camp. That meant many hugs, hellos, smiles and high fives were had as other past students found us around camp during and after the shoot. It also meant that Steph was able to be with us the entire time telling awesome dad jokes (my favorite type of jokes) to keep Alex relaxed and laughing. Seriously this trip left my soul filled and over joyed with what God is doing through Alex and Steph as well as what God is continuing to do through Forest Home Camps. Thank you Sarah and Alex for allowing me to do this! So many great people were seen in the midst of this short visit. Truly was a trek that my heart needed.
Check out some of the shots from the weekend below.
